Fakahatchee Strand State Preserve is located in Collier County, a few miles east of Naples and just north of Everglades City. Four areas are mapped in the park and have been being monitored by volunteers since August 2002. Bromeliad species presently selected for monitoring includes Tillandsia utriculata, T. fasciculata, T. pruinosa, and Guzmania monostachia. Tillandsia variabilis is known to inhabit the park and may be included in future mappings.
